Automatic Fingerprint Identification Systems

"Today, Automatic Fingerprint Identification Systems are increasingly employed for law enforcement and individual authentification applications.

SAGEM’s MORPHO system is the most advanced and widely sold AFIS in the world. It features high-powered data management, fast retrieval and matching of even partial prints. More than 20 countries are currently using such system, including the world’s largest AFIS for the American FBI.

Fingerprints are acquired at the workstations either from a tenprint card or from an opto-electronic reader that directly inputs a print without inking.

As an outgrowth of its AFIS activities, SAGEM also supplies biometric authentication systems for access and border control, or for the nominative attribution of benefits (e.g. welfare, immigration, ...)"
