The Needs of Young Refugees in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham

Description: "Key Findings
• Young refugees face a number of barriers when accessing services in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. Most significantly, they face
communication barriers and there is a lack of awareness of services that are available.

• Factors impacting on health and well being are boredom, isolation, nutrition, inappropriate placements for looked after children, lack of
health education and bullying.

• Interagency co-operation is beginning, but there are still a number of difficulties faced by professionals delivering a service to young
refugees.

Further training and support are required, as well as improved information systems and improved interagency working."
