Children first and foremost Description: "The Barnardo’s report - ‘Children first and foremost’ - explains the predicament facing unaccompanied asylum seeking children: “The numbers of unaccompanied children coming to the UK is on the increase. They are particularly vulnerable as they are without the care and protection of their parents, are outside their country of origin and may be seeking asylum because of fear of persecution, armed conflict or disturbances in their own country. They may be victims of violence, torture, rape or detention, as well as being vulnerable to sexual exploitation through trafficking or to forced recruitment into armed forces."
