8 - Initial Consideration (of Cases) in Allocation
Files not actioned by assessment
If a file does not appear to have been dealt with by assessment caseworker this should be brought to the attention of the Allocation EO. If the necessary actions/considerations have not taken place then the file should be returned to the relevant Assessment team HEO with a clear minute stating why it has been returned. In Priority One cases consideration should be given to passing the case to Assessment by hand.
Assessment Decisions
If the allocation caseworker believes that the assessment caseworkers decision is incorrect they should carefully consider the reasons given by assessment and the individual circumstances of the case. Any concerns or queries should then be brought to the attention of their Team Leader. If the Team Leader agrees with the caseworker then the file should be passed up to the Group Leader. The Group Leader should then contact the Assessment HEO to discuss the case. If it is agreed that the case should be reconsidered the file should be clearly minuted and returned to the relevant Assessment HEO to deal. In Priority One cases consideration should be given to passing the case to Assessment by hand.
Whenever a case is moved between sections caseworkers must ensure that it is clearly minuted with actions taken, considerations, instructions and any areas to be addressed.
